Hi,
ifconfig no longer seems to be able to set IPv6 addresses on my NIC:
xanadu:/home/brendan# ifconfig eth0 inet6 3ffe:80c0:220:4::2 prefixlen 112
Don't know how to set addresses for family 10.
xanadu:/home/brendan#
Reverting to net-tools 1.57-1 seems to fix the problem.
Thanks,
Brendan

Hello Phil,
the following debian Bug is still valid for 1.59 (just uploaded the Debian
Archive). Could have a look at it cause the changes in ifconfig are a bit
puzzling to me :)
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=86237&repeatmerged=yes
another one dealing with Tokenring is:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=79462&repeatmerged=yes
unfortunatelly I cant test this...
Greetings
Bernd

I'm surprised that this syntax ever worked. The usual way to set IPv6
addresses is `ifconfig eth0 [inet6] add ...'.
Would you mind double-checking that 1.57-1 really did work with the exact
command you mentioned? Nobody else has reported the problem.

sorry for replying late, I was in Mexico when this message arrived...
This definitely used to work, but I'm not going to worry about it now,
since ifupdown seems to have come around. I only noticed because it
wasn't bringing up my ipv6 interfaces anymore.
