Recently I found a need for a script to run when my PPP link shuts down
but BEFORE teh link is shut down (ie to send some last bits of info 
across the net to let some server or whatever know I am "going offline")

Here is my solution...
add a directory to /etc/ppp
called /etc/pre-ip-down
(pre-ip-up could be added too but I fail to think of any real uses for it)

Then in poff add:
run-parts /etc/ppp/pre-ip-down
or alternatively:
/etc/ppp/pre-ip-down (which would itself just use run-parts)

I have already edited poff to suport this on my home system...it
seems to work well..this change will save me from being broken
next time I upgrade (and is an easy enough fix)
