I am a former mandrake user who got really spoiled with the default colors for emacs in mandrale. It would help debian emacs be better out of the box if these colors were also adobted. The people I have asked agree that the now default black-white theme is very hard on the eyes. The settings are: emacs*Background: DarkSlateGray emacs*Foreground: Wheat emacs*pointerColor: Orchid emacs*cursorColor: Orchid emacs*font: fixed Where the first two lines and the font are the most important. Remember - not choosing the default for people is still a choise, so please choose a good one like this one. Thanks for your effort in packaging software for my consumation :) -Thue -- System Information Debian Release: woody Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux thue105 2.2.17 #4 Fri Sep 22 12:55:49 CEST 2000 i686 Versions of packages emacs20 depends on: ii emacsen-common 1.4.12 Common facilities for all emacsen. ii libc6 2.2-1 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii liblockfile1 1.01 Shared library with NFS-safe locki ii libncurses5 5.0-7 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii xlib6g 4.0.1-7 pseudopackage providing X librarie
