I think this was a nice feature. Could this be again as it used to be? If not, even a flag to switch from the new behaviour to the previous will be welcome. I was wondering - are you planning yourself to merge the ppp-pam package into ppp, some time soon (see #48237)? I'd be happy to provide a patch or do a NMU. How about it?
