Better, but still not good enough. Hostname can be up to 255 characters long
so you still have no way to see everything. What I would like sendmail to do
is check the width of the tty use that to layout its output. For an example
of how to do that see main/enquiry.c in the dpkg source.

Better, but still not good enough. Hostname can be up to 255 characters long
so you still have no way to see everything. What I would like sendmail to do
is check the width of the tty use that to layout its output. For an example
of how to do that see main/enquiry.c in the dpkg source.

Only if you make it so :). For dpkg I use fixed relative sizes
for the column so I can easily calculate their width. It's not
really optimal but it is simple. The alternative would be to
walk over the complete output once first to grab the maximum
needed column widths, but that can be an expensive operation.
