the pattern match /['"]/ - it think's that's opening a quote.
Usually you wind up with the rest of the file highlighted in the=20
"quoted text" colour.
It should probably stop parsing inside a regexp entirely.

Ya. There are lots of known problems with cperl's syntax hilighting.
Unfortunately it's a hard problem and I don't know when or if they
will be fixed. Until then learn the use of '#"' and "#'". Put them
at strategic points to make sure the entire file doesn't get hilighted
in a particular way.
