It would be useful if diff had a "--tab-size=" option.  Without it, it's not
possible to use the "-y" (side-by-side) option on files that have tabs other
than 8-characters in size.

<laugh>  I think it's very unfortunate that they were originally set as
that.  It probably made sense at the time, 1/10 of a page across, but it
is not ideal for many uses.  But hey...  That's why typewriters had
repositionable tabs.  I like to think computers are at least as advanced
as they used to be.  ;-)

Anyway...  Much to our hero's disgust, we use hard 4-character tabs at
work and it would be nice if diff could support it.
