This package is marked as i386-only. However, it compiles on alpha,
and even produces sound on my alpha with GUS card. The sound is not
quite OK, I think due to alignment problems or so. However, this in
itself is not a reason to mark it i386-only. I suggest that any
system that accepts ISA cards (alpha, powerpc, m68k?) should be
"allowed" to compile this package.
Thanks,
Paul Slootman

If I remember correctly, the upstream author said it is i386-only,
hardcoded endiannes and other stuff... But if you can make play
on your alpha (correctly), I'll gladly allow it on other archs as well...

Hmm, I couldn't find any such reference on his homepage.

Note that alpha has the same endianness as intel :-) The only problem is
probably wordsize (64 bit trouble), as some parts of a mod sound good,
some are clearly distorted. I'll have a closer look at getting it to
work properly, and let you know.

Remember that gmod hasn't been updated (upstream) for nearly 3 years.
I've fixed it to compile with the latest qt/libstdc++/gcc. I think
that xmp may do a more decent job. I'm just maintaing it because it
doesn't take too much time.

Remember that gmod hasn't been updated (upstream) for nearly 3 years.
I've fixed it to compile with the latest qt/libstdc++/gcc. I think
that xmp may do a more decent job. I'm just maintaing it because it
doesn't take too much time.

Unfortunatly I do not have a GUS/AWE soundcard anymore, nor do I have a
64bit computer. Since gmod reportedly does not work on alpha, I assume
that it isn't 64bit clean, and I don't have a way to fix it.
For the time being, I suggest !386 people to use mikmod or xmp. Help
is welcome, If you want to the legacy ultrasound of Gravis alive :)
