The bottom line is that this shouldn't be happening. Apparently it has been cured upstream? The donut and surf demos can be downloaded from and to compile them on local machine just run make. 'ldd surf' and 'ldd donut' give identical results: libglide2x.so => /usr/lib/libglide2x.so (0x4001a000) libX11.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6 (0x4014d000) libstdc++-libc6.1-2.so.3 => /usr/lib/libstdc++-libc6.1-2.so.3 (0x401ee000) libm.so.6 => /lib/libm.so.6 (0x40233000) libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x40251000) libXext.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXext.so.6 (0x4032d000) /lib/ld-linux.so.2 => /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x40000000) Have latest version of relevant packages: Package: libglide2-v3, Version: 2.60-6 Package: mesag3-glide2, Version: 3.1-17 Package: device3dfx-source, Version: 2.3.4-2 In XF86Config the SVGA Display at a colourdepth of 16 is: Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480" "640x400" "512x384" "480x300" "400x300" "320x240" "320x200" -- System Information Debian Release: potato Kernel Version: Linux nobelle 2.2.15 #1 Wed May 31 12:36:05 BST 2000 i686 unknown Versions of the packages libglide2-v3 depends on: ii libc6 2.1.2-11 GNU C Library: Shared libraries and Timezone ii xlib6g 3.3.6-6 shared libraries required by X clients
