For fast links. - `Parallel' Downloads a number of chunks of the file from several sources concurrently. This can only be done with HTTP sources! As an example, for a 1MB file with 4 sources, download the first 256K from the first, the second 256K from the second, etc. The number of chunks to split the file into is determined by the number of sources with that file. (Note: While HTTP is the only APT-supported protocol that can do this at present, I believe rsync can do it as well, should you give apt the ability to use rsync.)
