Using xpdf or pdftops gives much nicer greyscales. And they look ugly with pdf2ps. Some light greyscale tones become almost black. Here's the URL of a file where the problems arise : http://www.pandi.hp.com/pandi/pdf/lj2100.pdf Especially Page 2. -- System Information Debian Release: woody Kernel Version: Linux lolo 2.2.12 #1 ven aoû 27 14:41:37 CEST 1999 i586 unknown Versions of the packages gs-aladdin depends on: ii libc6 2.1.3-4 GNU C Library: Shared libraries and Timezone data ii libpaperg 1.0.3-12.2 Library for handling paper characteristics [libc6] ii libpng2 1.0.5-0.1 PNG library - runtime ii svgalibg1 1.4.1-2 SVGA display utilities ii xlib6g 3.3.6-3 shared libraries required by X clients ii zlib1g 1.1.3-5 compression library - runtime ^^^ (Provides virtual package libz1) svgalib-dummyg1 Not installed or no info
