Yesterday I installed a new system with the 1997-05-20 disk set.
I selected install Linux/lilo on the hard disk and it seemed to work,
but on reboot only "LILO" appeared and the system hung. Rebooting
with the boot disk and running lilo manually fixed the problem. This
system is a Pentium with Buslogic controller, two SCSI disks, a CD-R
and a SCSI CDROM, and a WD ethernet card. The kernel worked fine.
When running dselect both with the mounted from a NFS server and
mounted from a mounted partition methods, there was an error in line 8
of usr/lib/dpkg/methods/disk/setup (forgot to write it down exactly).
This seemed to be fatal to the NFS method (which I've never been able
to get to work reliably). However, I was able to install from the NFS
partition once I manually mounted it.

That's a dpkg problem.

Do you know if that still happens? Line 8 of
/usr/lib/dpkg/methods/disk/setup is a `cd' to a directory that should
always exist.
Thanks.

I am using NFS reliably under hamm installs. I think the instructions
could be improved. Either it was pilot error or a bug in an old version.
