I was hoping the recently released lynx 2.7 (.deb package to be released in a couple days) would fix that one... It doesn't. It's kind of amazing that the lynx-dev people haven't heard of (and fixed) that one yet... I guess people just don't write complex mailcap files by themselves. (Not that I would... I find it great that it's automatically generated for me.) I'll look into it, but after 2.7-1. I want lynx 2.7 to be able to make it into the codefreeze for 1.3 (assuming this one will happen on time). I haven't checked whether the problem really exists. Or whether it should be considered a bug... Here is a quote from Lynx's distributed sample mailcap: # A common problem with the mailcap mechanism is getting differential # behavior from different programs. This problem is compounded by the fact # that some programs, notably Mosaic, do not implement the "test" clause in # mailcap files. If you are using Lynx and X Mosaic together you should # place all X-centric entries before non-X entries. X Mosaic will use # whichever entry is defined first so further entries will be ignored. So the reverse processing order may have even been put there at some point on purpose, to make coexistence with Mosaic possible. (But that reson may not be valid any more.) > I guess people just don't write complex mailcap >files by themselves. I think you are right. Also, more complicated viewer diefinitions that are specific to Lynx should probably be put into lynx.cfg, not a global mailcap file which is shared by other programs. >(Not that I would... I find it great that it's >automatically generated for me.) And things meant only for Lynx could be installed with a test for $LYNX_VERSION... Klaus
