XSubject: Perl dumps core
X
XPackage: perl
XVersion: 5.002-7
X
XThe bug processing script on master.debian.org causes Perl to dump
Xcore with a SIGSEGV.
X
XI have the coredump, and can supply it and the script and the data it
Xwas processing. The bug is quite reproducible.
X
XI *need* this bug fixed *within weeks*; I can't move the bug system to
Xmaster until this problem is sorted out, and the bug system is
Xoverflowing both my disk and CPU quotas on the system I'm currently
Xusing. I estimate that I'll have to shut it down halfway through
XJune, if current resource usage continues.
X
XI'm using the following libraries:
X$ ldd /usr/bin/perl
X libgdbm.so.1 => /usr/lib/libgdbm.so.1
X libdb.so.1 => /usr/lib/libdb.so.1
X libdl.so.1 => /lib/libdl.so.1.7.10
X libm.so.5 => /lib/libm.so.5.0.5
X libc.so.5 => /lib/libc.so.5.3.5
X$
X
XThese are mainly Debian ones; the libc.so.5 is home-grown on master,
Xbut I've tried it with Debian's 5.2.18 and LD_LIBRARY_PATH, and that
Xdidn't help.
X
XIan.

X
XI have compiled my own version of Perl 4, which seems able to cope
Xwith the script without crashing. It's just as well that I haven't
Xyet taken the time to learn Perl 5 properly and start using its new
Xfeatures ...
X
XThe urgency is therefore no longer present; I'll continue my work on
Xmoving the bug system across and make an announcement when it's ready.
X
XThanks,
XIan.

This looks like a really old bug. Is it still actually around, perl has
gone through several upgrades and a new version.
