If you do a shell escape at this point, less will ask you to press return as usual; once you have done that it will report "/usr/share/locale: No such file or directory (press RETURN)"; press return again and it crashes, going catatonic. If you view a non-empty file, press h to view the help screen, then do a shell escape, less will crash and dump core when you try to return to viewing the file from the help screen. Tony. I thought I had closed this. It's been fixed by a new upstream version.
