When I submit printjobs from any MS Windows
based machine I do not see the jobs within
the printmanager anymore.

The server runs 'lprng' '2.4.2-1' which I
find superior to standard 'lpr'.

The problem now is that for instance the
output of the new lpq command cannot be
read and interpreted correctly by samba.


I'm using Debian 1.2.7, kernel version 2.0.27
and libc.5.4.20

Have you tried using the option 'printing = lprng' in /etc/smb.conf?
It's not in the right place in smb.conf(5), but it seems to work to
fix the problem.

I've submitted the lack of doucumentation for 'printing = lprng' as
bug 7695, and forwarded the bug to the upstream authors.  Please let
me know if this option solves your probem so I close out this bug
report.
