Subject: forbidden symlink
Package: perl
Version: 5.003.07-2
% ls -l /bin/perl
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 15 Dec 20 16:59 /bin/perl -> ../usr/bin/perl
This symlink resides in /bin, in FSSTAND that means a traffic ticket. ;-)
(Also, perl depends on libm.so.5 , why it is not shown in the
"--System Information" section bellow ? )

The symlink doesn't take up appreciable space, and keeps some packages
installation scripts happy, as well as some pre-written code. I don't
see a reason to remove it. I always add that and also a symlink at
/usr/local/bin/perl so that prepackaged scripts don't need as much
modifications.

Probably because libm.so.5 is included in the libc5 package.

It is there for backwards compatability, some packages are broken and
need that link there. Bugs should be filed against those packages, not
perl, and I think bugs have been filed.

b/c that is part of the libc5 package. (do a dpkg -S libm.so.5)
