I don't see a reason to remove it. I always add that and also a symlink at /usr/local/bin/perl so that prepackaged scripts don't need as much modifications. > (Also, perl depends on libm.so.5 , why it is not shown in the > "--System Information" section bellow ? ) Probably because libm.so.5 is included in the libc5 package.
