I'm using Emacs under X and font-lock mode is turned on. If you write
`cc:' or `Cc:' in the headers it appears in black (or the default
face); however if you write `CC:' then it appears in purple.
However, RFC822 headers are case-independent, so it should be the same
colour independent of letter case.

This bug exists in later versions of Emacs, too, e.g. XEmacs21
21.1.10-5, and perhaps other versions (I haven't checked).
Feel free to reassign it appropriately, but don't close it until it's
actually fixed.

Emacs 19 has been removed from Debian unstable a while ago and won't
be released with the next release, Debian woody. Your bug has been
closed because it is either not relevant to the current package, has
been fixed already in Emacs 20, or is Emacs 19 specific.
Please switch to Emacs 20.
Thanks

Subject: emacs mail-mode fails RFC822 section 3.4.7
Package: emacs
Version: 19.34-2
I'm using Emacs under X and font-lock mode is turned on. If you write
`cc:' or `Cc:' in the headers it appears in black (or the default
face); however if you write `CC:' then it appears in purple.
However, RFC822 headers are case-independent, so it should be the same
colour independent of letter case.

The keywords to fontify in mail-mode are defined in sendmail.el
by setting font-lock-defaults. This has an additional third element
whether to ignore the case or not. If we set this to true the
font-lock-mode ignores the case of the keywords.
The attached patch fix this bug at least in xemacs21.4.15-1.
It should be forwarded to upstream.
