Subject: Running "make" fails under NIS.
Mime-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"
Package: nis
Version: 2.20-1
Running 'make' to update the NIS maps in /var/yp works fine under
nis-2.10-1, however, after I've upgraded to nis-2.20-1 this freezes on
"Updating passwd.byname..." - I have to interrupt by hitting ^C.
However, if I run /usr/lib/yp/ypinit -m (and I key in the slave servers)
it'll update OK after it does it's own update thing (I don't think it runs
make in /var/yp).

I can't reproduce this.
What version of libc5 are you using? All of them upto and including
5.4.23-3 have serious NIS problems. You need to install at least
5.4.23-6 (I hope it's in "frozen" by now)
Mike.

I'm running 5.4.23-2 - I think 6 is in frozen now ...
Ok, installed 5.4.23-6 - works great! Perhaps you could release a new NIS
with a dependancy for 6? Saves a _lot_ of confusion :-)

Will do that for "unstable". I don't think I can push anything into
stable anymore..
