The first time you "newer" a file all is well, but if you run "newer" again you get Local file "file" is newer than remote file "file" since the local file's time is set to the time it was fetched. It would be nice if you could turn off that message because it's the only thing which prints out if you run newer commands in an otherwise successfull ftp script. Alternately, it would be nice if you could tell "newer" to preserve the modtime. -- System Information Debian Release: 1.3 Kernel Version: Linux jones 2.0.27 #2 Sat Mar 22 19:27:36 EST 1997 i586 unknown Versions of the packages netstd depends on: cpp Version: 2.7.2.1-8 libc5 Version: 5.4.23-3 libreadline2 Version: 2.1-2 ncurses3.0 Version: 1.9.9e-1 netbase Version: 2.13-1 --- Begin /etc/slip.dip (modified conffile) Config file not present or no permissions for access --- End /etc/slip.dip
