From: ghughes@cs.ucsb.edu
Subject: locales: Functions refer to /usr/share/i18n instead of /usr/share/i18n/locales
To: submit@bugs.debian.org
X-Mailer: bug 2.94
Package: locales
Version: 2.0.4-1
localedef tells me this:
; localedef --help
Usage: localedef [OPTION]... name
Mandatory arguments to long options are mandatory for short options too.
-c, --force create output even if warning messages were
issued
-h, --help display this help and exit
-f, --charmap=FILE symbolic character names defined in FILE
-i, --inputfile=FILE source definitions are found in FILE
-u, --code-set-name=NAME specify code set for mapping ISO 10646
elements
-v, --verbose print more messages
-V, --version output version information and exit
--posix be strictly POSIX conform
System's directory for character maps: /usr/share/i18n/charmaps
locale files : /usr/share/locale:/usr/share/i18n
Report bugs using the `glibcbug' script to .
But there are no locale files in /usr/share/i18n; only in
/usr/share/i18n/locale!
As a result, I'm getting messages like
perl: warning: Setting locale failed.
perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings:
LC_ALL = "",
LC_CTYPE = "en_US.ISO8859-1",
LANG = (unset)
are supported and installed on your system.
perl: warning: Falling back to the standard locale ("C").
Which isn't right for me.
