1) perl doesn't document FileHandle::flush.  (It's defined in
FileHandle.xs, and AFAICT does the obvious thing.)

: sfere; man FileHandle | grep flush
           autoflush STDOUT 1;
           autoflush
: sfere; 

2) there's no way of doing fflush(NULL) from the perl level.
