I noticed that some log files were not being rotated, on investigation ps
gave this:

I am using auctex 9.7n-2. I have just done "sudo run-parts
/etc/cron.weekly" and it worked fine this time. I have not killed off the
stuck processes yet so if there is anything that you want done to them,
just let me know - I don't intend rebooting for another week.
