I don't disagree with him that bash probably is misdesigned in this respect, though I think his chances of getting bash to change are small indeed. I've communicated the issues to Chet several times, but haven't received much of a reply. Ian, I'll keep the bugs open against bash, but just to be practical, you ought to add a few lines to disk/setup to prevent these warning lines.
