For example, I have two lsearch man pages in /usr/man/man3 manpages: /usr/man/man3/lsearch.3.gz tcl76-dev: /usr/man/man3/lsearch.3tcl When I type "man -a lsearch", only the first man page shows up. The second page is not displayed. Multiple man pages do show up when the man pages are in separate directories. -- System Information Debian Release: 1.2 Kernel Version: Linux laminaria 2.0.27 #3 Sat Mar 15 01:03:05 EST 1997 i586 unknown Versions of the packages man-db depends on: groff Version: 1.10-2 libc5 Version: 5.4.23-2 libdb1 Version: 1.85.4-3 --- Begin /etc/manpath.config (modified conffile) MANDATORY_MANPATH /usr/man MANDATORY_MANPATH /usr/X11R6/man MANDATORY_MANPATH /usr/local/man MANPATH_MAP /bin /usr/man MANPATH_MAP /usr/bin /usr/man MANPATH_MAP /sbin /usr/man MANPATH_MAP /usr/sbin /usr/man MANPATH_MAP /usr/local/bin /usr/local/man MANPATH_MAP /usr/local/sbin /usr/local/man MANPATH_MAP /usr/X11R6/bin /usr/X11R6/man MANPATH_MAP /usr/games /usr/man MANDB_MAP /usr/man/de_DE /var/catman/de_DE MANDB_MAP /usr/man/it_IT /var/catman/it_IT MANDB_MAP /usr/man /var/catman MANDB_MAP /usr/local/man /var/catman/local MANDB_MAP /usr/X11R6/man /var/catman/X11R6 --- End /etc/manpath.config Information forwarded to debian-bugs-dist@lists.debian.org, Fabrizio Polacco <fpolacco@debian.org>:

[show page] --Man-- next: lsearch(3tcl) [ view (return) | skip (Ctrl-D) | quit (Ctrl-C) ] Reformatting lsearch(3tcl), please wait... [show page] I have: groff Version: 1.10-2 libc5 Version: 5.4.23-2 libdb1 Version: 1.85.4-3 bash Version: 1.14.7-2 man-db Version: 2.3.10-33 but even after an upgrade to bash Version: 2.0-2 both the manpages are correctly displayed. I have the same situation, with one page compressed and the tcl one not compressed (which should be a bug by itself :-) I tryed with and without the catpages, and with only one catpage. Sorry, I can't reproduce this behaviour. Can you please rebuild the indexes and try again?
